Technical Data & Information
There are several types of abrasives standards in the market:
1. FEPA (Federation of European Producers of Abrasives)
2. ANSI (America National Standards Insitute)
3. JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards)
BCL Abrasives standards are based according to the FEPA standards. As such, our grit value may not be similar to the same grit values when compared to the other standards.
Example: FEPA-P150 is equivalent to ANSI 180.
Grit sizes are described by means of grit particles distributions over an area standardized in DIN ISO 8486-1.F80 defined as 80 mesh areas over a nominal linch screen length. Hence the higher the number, the finer it gets.

A hard bonded abrasives prevents self sharpening and instead of breaking apart, the abrasives grains turns blunt. This is a clear result of wrong choice of abrasives over the intended application.
